Northern Taiwan to Green Island | Multi-Mode Transit from Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu

From Taipei, Taoyuan or Hsinchu — TRA to Taitung, transfer to Route 201 for Fugang Ferry Pier, then ferry to Green Island. The full chain of times in one place.

From northern Taiwan to Green Island, the standard approach is the TRA East Coast Line to Taitung, then Puyuma Transport Route 201 to Fugang Ferry Pier (Taitung) for the boat. EMU3000 Tze-Chiang Limited Express or Puyuma Express from Taipei reaches Taitung in about 3.5 hours at the fastest. From Taitung Train Station, board Route 201 from Bay 1 to Fugang (about 20 minutes for NT$25), then take one of the three jointly operated ferries to Nanliao Harbor (Green Island), a roughly 50-minute crossing.

Travelers from Taoyuan or Hsinchu can take HSR up to Taipei to transfer, or use one of the few direct reserved-seat services to Taitung. Either way, the per-city subpages linked here show the same time alignment.

The Green Island route runs 2 fixed sailings on weekdays (outbound 09:30 and 13:30); in high season and on weekends and holidays it scales up to 5 sailings a day (07:30 / 09:30 / 11:30 / 13:30 / 15:30). The cleanest combo: leave Taipei a little after 06:00, arrive Taitung around 10:00, take the 11:30 bus to Fugang and connect to the 13:30 sailing.

For the high-season 07:30 extra sailing, take the previous night's red-eye EMU3000 Tze-Chiang out of Shulin (around 23:00), arrive Taitung a little after 05:00, board the first Route 201 at 06:20, reach Fugang at 06:40 and wait 50 minutes — perfect timing.
